Senior Operations Specialist - Battery Materials

Role

As Senior Operations Specialist — Battery Materials, you will be a core member of the Operations team, playing a key role in supporting WMC’s growing battery materials portfolio. You will work closely with the Battery Materials commercial team and with internal functions including Legal, Finance, and IT. The position offers broad exposure to high-value, complex transactions in a fast-paced, international, and innovative environment. In this role you support WMC’s continued growth in battery materials by ensuring that all deliveries are executed on time and in strict alignment with commercial contracts.

Key Responsibilities

Contracting

Support the commercial team during the contract drafting phase by providing recommendations on contract language that address identified supply chain risks.

Supply Chain Management

Plan, optimise, and execute physical deliveries across the full logistics chain — from suppliers through warehouses to receivers.

Third-Party Vendor Management

Manage day-to-day relationships with forwarding companies, warehouses and inspection agencies ensuring performance and compliance.

Trade Finance

Manage export letters of credit: oversee timely issuance by customers, verify that wording is in compliance with contract terms, and ensure timely presentation of shipping documents.

Operational Excellence and Compliance

Maintain accurate inventory records, ensure all shipping documentation meets the company’s standards, and file records in the company’s archiving system in a timely manner.

IT and Process Improvement

Collaborate with the IT team on identified improvement opportunities and participate in ad hoc system enhancement projects.

What We Are Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (logistics, supply chain, business, international trade, or similar).

• Minimum two years of experience in commodity operations, logistics, warehousing, or customer service.

• Demonstrated experience with letters of credit.

• Experience with container shipping is an advantage.

• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and manage challenging situations.

• Self-starter with sound analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Proven ability to make sound decisions under pressure.

• Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
