By completing a Double Materiality Assessment (DMA), WMC identified and prioritized the ESG topics most relevant for WMC to manage and report on. This process helped WMC pinpoint the sustainability-related key impacts, risks and opportunities, in order to inform future strategy and decision-making.
The DMA was conducted by an ESG project team established in 2024, supported by external consultants and overseen at management level. The process included interviews, workshops and surveys with employees, customers and suppliers, as well as input from the ESG Committee. The assessment considered both: impact materiality – the positive or negative effects of WMC’s activities on society and the environment; and financial materiality – the risks and opportunities that could influence WMC’s value drivers and competitive position.
